3 days trip to Copenhagen. Unfortunately there’s a lot of construction work going on at the Rådhuspladsen and the Kongens Nytorf, so 2 of the nice areas are hidden by hoardings. Den lille Havnfrue Based on a fairy tale by HC Andersen, the little mermaid is placed some way out in the harbor area of Copenhagen. […]

Bremerhaven
Spent an afternoon in Bremerhaven Harbor. Some interesting locations worth to visit but better done in morning hours before 10am. This ensures much better sunlight coming mainly from the back, so no shots have to be taken against the sun. Anyway, some general shots around the harbor. At the North Ship sluice one of the […]
Cuxhaven: Karstadt/Hertie Store
Finally, actually 2 times finally, they are tearing down the closed Karstadt/Hertie building in Cuxhaven. 2 times, because I finally found some time to have a closer look at the building pull down. Karstadt opened their store in Cuxhaven on September 28th 1960. At that time, it was a modern concrete building but nowadays this […]

At the turn of 1981/1982 the ship sank in the river […]
Another round of Close-Ups using AFS 200-400
Another round of close-ups using the Nikkor AFS 200-400/f4 shows very good results as long as the lens can be hold by hand. Tripod is a bit inflexible and the camera-lens combination quite heavy for longer sessions. So, some positive results but not as many sharp pictures compared to using a tripod.
Bremerhaven Festival 2013
The yearly recurring Bremerhavener Festival presented some Tall Ships and other ships in the harbor. Also some shots taken from the visitor platform on top of the Atlantic Hotel Bremerhaven.
AF-S 200-400/f4 Macro shots
The AF-S 200-400 can also be used for doing some nice close-ups. Here are some tests shots I did using the Nikon D7100. Last picture is a 1:1 crop from previous picture.
Cuxhaven: Berenscher Schedelstein
From the marker close to the stone: End of 14th century Hamburg acquired some territory at the spout of river Elbe (Amt Ritzebüttel) which is today mostly located within Cuxhaven. Part of this where also 5 small villages including Arensch and Berensch. The borderline to the neighbors in the south – county Wursten – was not […]
