Early morning shot in the center of Cuxhaven. Using the Allview Panoramic Head for a 24 picture panorama with the D800 and the Zeiss 50f1.4 for a 180° wide view. The final stitched picture is around 1.5 GByte in size and has around 500 Megapixel. On the right side is the Public Library and opposite […]

Cuxhaven – Autumn
Some shots taken during a walk through the forest in Sahlenburg. I had the D800 with the Zeiss 50f1.4 and the D2x with the Sigma 30f1.4 with me. Both are excellent lenses that provide sharp and gracious looking pictures.
Cuxhaven – Sunrise
Spent a good hour to take some shots of the sunrise in the wadden sea close to Cuxhaven monument “Kugelbake”. Using the Sigma 35mm attached to the D2x and the Sigma 50mm at the D800 which gives comparable angles of view. Nice but not excellent performance of the Sigma with the D800. The 35mm is […]
Sigma 35mm f1.4 Art Testshots
Recently bought a used Sigma 35mm f1.4 Art lens. Reading on diverse sources from the Internet states that the lens is very sharp and produces nice pictures throughout the aperture range. Even wide open it should be good. First quick testing showed that the lens has a strong front focus. Therefore I setup the Reikan […]
Workshop Feldberg 2015
Some photos from the excellent workshop in Mecklenburg Vorpommern that was run by Rangertours. 2 action tours where the white-tailed sea eagles are baited from a boat with the ability to shoot close distance photos in action and 2 days in hides to shoot raptors and other scavengers at a baiting place. In addition some informal practice sessions with […]
Jökulsárlón Panorama
On the day we left towards Ásólfsskáli we stopped a last time at Jökulsárlón. I used the Nikon D4 with Tamron 70-200f2.8 at 200mm for a panorama shot of the scene. Result were 42 portrait-mode pictures out of which 34 were used to create the panorama. I uploaded the picture in nearly full size to allow viewing […]
Keep Lightroom and Photoshop in sync
Always had the problem to keep my laptop and desktop in sync for the Lightroom and Photoshop settings, presets, etc. The solution to this is to make use of a “cloud-sync” which keeps the files used still local and does sync automatically between the machines. I am using the Synology CloudStation for this, but it […]
Iceland in black & white
Some conversions to black & white from recent Iceland trip. Here are some of my favorites, full set can be viewed by clicking on one of the embedded pictures.
Iceland statistics
The whole traveling distance I tracked with my Garmin was 5490km. Using the 2 cameras I had with me I did 4549 pictures. Main lens on the D800 was the Sigma 24-105f4 Art. With the D4 I used nearly all lenses except the Sigma Zoom. Most pictures of the Birds were shot with the D4. The EV […]
