Sunday morning Cuxhaven was hit by hurricane Herwart. Some pictures taken at Kugelbake in the early morning hours.

Phare du Chenal du Four – Second turn
Heavy winds and west direction with waves up to 8 meters were announced for our last day in Brittany. We skipped the visit to Pointe du Raz and went for another try to Porspoder. Good decision. It was as I wanted it to be. The wind was driving the water against the lighthouse. Phenomenal! […]
Le Conquet
The site change went down into the rain. Originally planned to have some location visits on the way, but because of the rain it was impossible to do some shots. First day in Le Conquet was used to have a nice morning spent at Saint-Mathieu and Petit Minou lighthouses. Later the day we went backwards […]
Phare du Chenal du Four
Monday we went to Porpoder as more Wind was announced. At the site it was bright sunshine and some good wind. However, the wind came in from south and therefore the expected waves at the lighthouse did not show up. Anyway, it was a great day.
Around Pleubian
From Pleubian we wanted to visit some sites at the Côte de Granit Rose. With only 3 days we focussed on the closer Pleubian area, Perros-Guirec and Cap Fréhel. The day planned for Cap Fréhel did not work. We left early for the 130 kilometer drive and it started to get very foggy when we came […]
From Mont-Saint-Michel to Pleubian
One of the main reasons to go to Brittany was seeing and photographing lighthouses. While Le Mont-Saint-Michel was a must on the way to Brittany, the remaining days was focussing on the lighthouses and the areas around them. In the preparation I planned to have stops on the way from Mont-Saint-Michel to Pleubian for some lighthouses. […]
Le Mont-Saint-Michel
Day one of the Brittany trip. First stop was at famous Le Mont-Saint-Michel. We only planned for a single full day and weren’t lucky in regards of the weather there. However, the evening showed some sun rays for about 30 minutes before it started raining. Worth to visit? Hmh, not really. Very touristic, lots of people, […]
Cuxhaven – Stormfront Xavier
Another stormfront at Cuxhaven’s coastline happened today around noon. The wind was coming directly into the bay. Last time, when stormfront Sebastian was here, it became obvious that the D2x is too slow for having some series shots. Therefore, I used the D800 with the Sigma 24-105 Art this time.
Lighthouse warm-up
Very nice weather yesterday, therefore, as a warm-up for some lighthouses in Brittany, a short visit at Obereversand and the Little Prussian. Never shot the lighthouse in Dorum from the wadden sea perspective. Using the D850 with the Zeiss 35mm for all shots. The light was ok, but not perfect, as it was around 3pm […]
