So far it was only once clear enough for me to photograph the comet. And, how should it be different, screwed up in many ways…. The image(s) were taken on January 28, 2023 around midnight with the Fuji X-T5 on the Fujinon XF50-140mm at f/2.8 and ISO 1600. Not focused accurately, tracking not set well […]

The brightness and therefore visibility especially of the tail of C/2020 Neowise will surely not reach the comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF). Yesterday evening at the ferry port it was in the picture, but it is still so dark that you can find it only by extensive search in the picture.
Sunspots
Two (single) shots from yesterday morning with the Fuji X-T5 on the Nikkor 500mm. The first picture was taken with the 1.7 teleconverter on the Nikkor. So the focal length is 850mm. The second one was taken with the Nikkor and a Kenko 2.0 plus a Kenko 1.5 teleconverter. That gives a focal length […]
Astro images reprocessed
With more progress in editing, it is also worthwhile – in case of persistent bad weather – to reprocess some previous shots. In the new edits, the image detail was not chosen 100% exactly the same. Here are some comparisons… M31 – Andromeda from October 7, 2022. M33 – Triangulum Galaxy from […]
Leo-Triplett
Today I integrated the existing images of the Leo Triplet from 2020 and reprocessed them. The result can be seen quite well. A total of 161 exposures with the Nikon D5200 with Kenko 1.5 converter and the Skywatcher 130/650 PDS at ISO 800 and 75 exposures without the Kenko at ISO 1600 (plus corresponding […]
Geminids
Over two hours at -6°C at the Kugelbake. The quality of the image leaves much to be desired, but still. I knew that I should rather not use the Zodiak at open aperture. 10 meteors I saw, one of them directly above my head. On my pictures there are 12 meteors in total. Of course […]
M45 – Pleiades
It’s hardly bearable… Another clear night – and that in November! Very unusual here in Cuxhaven. Great. This time I aimed at the Pleiades. Unfortunately my processing created big “blotches” around the big stars, but that’s the way it is now. Maybe I can come up with something again. Recording data
Veil Nebula
Yesterday evening it was actually – and against all expectations – clear for a few hours. With the iOptron Skyguider, the Fuji X-T5 and the Samyang 135mm I ventured to the Veil Nebula once more. I had to reduce the Veil Nebula, due to the long focal length, to the Eastern Veil Nebula last time. […]
Eastern Veil Nebula
Last night it was finally clear again, at least until 11 pm. Time enough to photograph the Eastern Veil Nebula in Cygnus for 3.5 hours, the remains of an approx. 8000 year old supernova. Recording data
Sun and sunspots
Last Wednesday I made several attempts with the Fuji X-T20 and the Nikon 1 J4 at the Maksutov 1300mm. It still doesn’t quite want to succeed… When shooting with the Fuji camera, I partially managed to remove the Newtonian rings, but still the edge area is a bit flat, not very pronounced and too […]
