Short-eared Owls in Schillig

Yesterday I drove to Schillig to take pictures of short-eared owls. No way like the owls in Cuxhaven 2016. Although I saw 5 at the same time (and there are supposed to be more), they are very shy and “unapproachable”. Nevertheless, I managed to take a few pictures.

Hier sieht man schon, bei respektablem Abstand, wurde die Eule bereits sehr nervös. Ich habe es dann auch gelassen, man will die Tiere ja nicht unnötig bedrängen.

Activity was also rather absent, especially as it was quite windy. If they were startled by others, they immediately looked for a new place and were largely invisible again.

In the picture above it came first toward me, turned however immediately, when it saw me, off.
