Yesterday afternoon we made a tour through the exclave of Bremerhaven. The Fehrmoor is very special. Through a narrow strip of land that belongs to Lower Saxony, one gets from Bremerhaven Leherheide to the Fehrmoor.

Transition from Bremen to Lower Saxony

View from Bremerhaven to Debstedt area

The “Große Beek” is partly the border. Unfortunately, you can not make a complete circuit, because on the western side there is no crossing.

To the right of the Große Beek is Bremerhaven, to the left is Debstedt

Why there is such a small exclave here is unfortunately not really known.

On the right is a piece of Lower Saxony, on the left is Bremen

There are probably still some private properties in the moor, which is why Bremerhaven cannot really dispose of them. There used to be a lot of allotment gardens (?) here, but most of them are no longer in use. Where it has fallen into disrepair, it is probably the land that Bremerhaven has been able to buy so far.
