We will stay for 7 days in Artimino, Tuscany. One day is fully used by attending a cooking course in the hotel’s kitchen and doing a wine tasting session in Artimino.

Driving from Levanto to Artimino allows us to have a short visit in Carrara.

From Artimino we need to plan our other daily tours which definitely should include daily trips to see

Besides the above cities we are looking for the nice areas which are associated with Tuscany like

The following days are not exactly planned but should give indication what can be done in a day.

Day 1

Day trip to Florence by train.

On the walk

Day 2

Day trip to Pisa and Lucca.

On the walk

From Pisa to Lucca by car…

… and a walk through the town.

On the walk

A sightseeing drive is on our list for driving from Lucca to Barga.

From Tuscany Travel Blog: As almost all of these routes are in southern Tuscany, I wanted to add a route for those wishing to explore the northern area and the mountains. A lovely drive is definitely available by passing from Lucca to Barga discovering the beautiful region of Luigiana. Its mountain landscapes are very different from the sweet hills found in the south of this region.

Day 3

Day trip to Siena. On the way back we can do Monteriggioni. We plan to be in Siena early morning to avoid the tourist masses on the Piazza del Campo. Siena is car-free, yo we have to park somewhere outside.

Walk through Siena.

Day 4

Another trip to the south of Tuscany. Mainly intended to view the landscapes there with some specially planned drives.

Located close to Pienza is Agriturismo A Terrapille which became famous as a location for the movie Gladiator. Should be visited.

Another spot along the route is Baccoleno.

Sightseeing drives which should be covered while doing this day trip.

From San Quirico D’Orcia to Bagno Vignoni

From Tuscany Travel BlogThis motorway is definitely my favourite and passing through this you will be able to enjoy some of the most spectacular countryside of Tuscany, which appears in the majority of the photographs that you will find about our beautiful region. A trip along this road should be a must on an adventure to Tuscany.

Two waypoints included in above map which show spots of the typical views from Tuscany (first and last marker).

For the second marker we’d like to see one of the cypress alleys leading to the homestead. A view that should be seen more than once. Here’s the Google Earth view from such place.

From La Foce to Radicofani

From Tuscany Travel BlogAnother impressive road is one that leaves the town of la Foce and goes on towards the village of Radicofani. This road also passes through some of the most famous landscapes of Tuscany such as the cypress trees in the shape of the S. The whole road that crosses through the beautiful Val d’Orcia (declared a natural heritage site by UNESCO) is certainly one of the unforgettable sceneries in a trip to Tuscany.

From Taverne d’Arbia to Asciano

From Tuscany Travel BlogAlso situated in the province of Siena between Taverna d’Arbia and Asciano you will enjoy a road through the breathtaking Crete Lunari and Crete Senesi, one of the most impressive landscapes of the Tuscan countryside. The shape of the hills in this area of Tuscany is simply breathtaking. This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful landscapes in the region.

Day 5

Either we do another  Crete Senesi and/or Val d’Orcia trip or we might consider to have a trip to Volterra. The trip would lead through Val di Cecina and then back at the eastern side.

Day 6

One day will be spent to attend the half-day cooking course in the Restaurant Biagio Pignatta. After lunch we want to do the included wine tasting in gourmet store Bacco Goloso and probably see the wine production in Fattoria di Artimino.
