Before breakfast I did some shots of the Iceland horses in Heydalur.

Today the only plan is to walk to the Drangajökull. We arrive at the parking around 11:30 and walk directly towards the glacier.

After about half of the distance the area got a bit swampy and the small runlets from the mountain to the right side got too wide to get over with the backpack and tripod. Maybe it would have been possible without the stuff but decided to go back.

Here’s the track we went.

On for a small cafe which was announced at the entrance to the gravel road. Unfortunately there was a marriage and therefore we couldn’t get a rest there. When turning back, a resident alerted that one tire of the Suzuki was flat. The nightmare became true. Changing the wheel of that car isn’t as easy as it sounds. Lucky that the guy living here helped us out. It took some time and then we could go on but with the spare wheel only at slower speed and feeling uncomfortable.

We gave the rental guy a ring and he helped us quickly in managing a tire exchange in Hólmavík. After 2 hours we were already going back to Heydalur.
