The day in Bryce Canyon becomes, as already feared, a disaster. Rain, rain, rain. During the night there was a lot of lightning. Twice we thought the cabin would collapse. Some of the cars in front of the rooms have started their alarm system… That was quite a crash, too, gentlemen.
Bryce Canyon is in the middle of the clouds. We can’t tell if there are hoodoos there. The further back we drive, the worse the weather gets. The rain is joined by snow.
Alternative? At lunchtime we try to drive over to Red Canyon. Here at least it is not raining (and once – very briefly – even a ray of sunshine shows up).
The Red Canyon is also not to be sneezed at. Small but also very nice.
Sun? So, another try in Bryce Canyon.
From Sunset Point you can at least see into the canyon. A bit further up it is still completely cloudy and rainy.
The white veil at the top of the picture is the clouds. In the morning they were still hanging down into the canyon.
Bryce Canyon would be worth a trip by itself, because the surrounding area is also fascinating.
New plan, tomorrow morning again drive in and then only further to Moab. There have been issued for today first tornado warnings. However, the Weather Channel predicts improvement from Friday.
Hallo Ralf,
