The waxwings were unfortunately not to be seen today in the early morning, but a few other native species. The latter could also be a song thrush, I’m not so sure.

Feldberg Lake District – East-shore Hide
After the eagle tour we went to the east bank hide for a few hours. Eagles were rather not to be expected, but even so it was quite productive. Red kites, buzzards and the obligatory magpies came to the bait. Only the ravens, which we had already had here before, didn’t show up. A short […]
Feldberg Lake District – Eagle Tour
The eagle tour didn’t work so well with my photos. The D500 with the 300 PF was “too close” and with the D4 I missed painfully the group focus. The kites were a little better…
Feldberg Lake District – Red Kite Tour
My fourth visit to the Feldberg lake district. 3 years ago I had been there last. For the first evening we had booked the Milan tour. From the light it started a bit too early, but at least it was ok. Meanwhile on the tour a grey heron comes to the bait fish. That was […]
Snow Bunting and Ruddy Turnstone
At the “Kugelbake” I had the luck today for the first time to take pictures of the Snow Bunting wintering here. Since the storfront Victoria was still present, a large number of Ruddy Turnstones were also close to the path in search of food.
Buseu 2018
Another trip to the Pyrenees for some vulture shooting. As in 2012, we had 2 days with a vulture feeding session seeing Griffon Vultures, Black Vultures and – of course – several Lämmergeier. Furthermore we had a session for a Golden Eagle pair on the third day. Haven’t worked out all my pictures I took, […]
Feldberger Seen
2 days at the Nature Reserve Feldberger Seen. We booked 2 sessions with White-tailed Eagles feeding, one session at the hide with the Lesser-spotted Eagle and at last another time the Kingfisher. The sessions were good but I was not running with luck. Lost several times the tracking while the eagle and the Red and Black Kites were […]
Cuxhaven – Ruddy turnstone
Good but not brillant weather for another look at Cuxhaven’s Kugelbake area for some seafowl. Some Ruddy Turnstones around at the jetty. Shots were taken with the D500 and the Nikkor 200-400 (with and without TC-14).
Cuxhaven – Sandpipers and other local seafowl
Brillant weather and very good time for shooting some local seafowl in Cuxhaven near Kugelbake monument. Will be the last time this year.
Eurasian curlew in Cappel-Neufeld
Around 100 birds of this species are around Cappel-Neufeld area. The fillet there allows for nice positioning of tripod with camera. However, no close-ups possible there, so one would need good amount of focal length for some shootings. Used the D500 with the Nikkor 500f4 and TC-14 mounted on the Berlebach Uni-16 with Wimberley WH-200 […]
