My fourth visit to the Feldberg lake district. 3 years ago I had been there last. For the first evening we had booked the Milan tour. From the light it started a bit too early, but at least it was ok.
Meanwhile on the tour a grey heron comes to the bait fish. That was a real highlight on the 90 minutes trip.

Besides the usual carrion crows and black-headed gulls…

…a red kite was also interested in the bait.

A few crane pictures from the polder Bramel. Heavy cloud cover and relatively large distance are reflected in the poor quality of the pictures. The pictures were taken with the Nikon D500 on the Nikkor 500/f5.6 and the TC-14.
I haven’t seen any snow buntings yet this early morning, but I have seen larger colonies of sandpipers on rising water.
The waxwings were unfortunately not to be seen today in the early morning, but a few other native species. The latter could also be a song thrush, I’m not so sure.
