I was hoping for some nice colours with clouds in the morning. However, this did not happen. Sunrise has already moved further forward in south direction, so there won’t be much time left to shoot from this position in 2017.

Sunflowers
Rare finding here in Cuxhaven – a field with sunflowers. Looks like not intentionally have been seeded for this and still a bit sparse but somewhat nice. Shortly I’ve taken the pictures, it started to rain. Shot with the D800 and the Sigma 24-105mm using a tripod.
Sunset at Kugelbake
Another sunset at Cuxhaven’s monument at the river Elbe and the Northern Sea. This time from a different location I never were before. Unfortunately the sky didn’t have much clouds above the monument. I used the PC-E 24 Tilt/Shift lens on the D800. However, still need to learn appropriate tilt usage.
Sunset at Lighthouse Obereversand
Was looking forward to a nice sunset with good coloured skies. However, it wasn’t that intense yesterday. Anyway, some nice clouds were there and it was definitely worth to go there for some shots. All pictures taken with the Nikon D800 and the Zeiss 21mm f/2.8.
Cuxhaven – New Marina
One shot taken at the new Marina in Cuxhaven where several apartments were built. Nearly finished but not in use yet. Shot was taken with the Nikon D2x and the Nikkor 24mm f/2.8.
Cuxhaven – Building Harbour
One shot in the evening, taken at the building harbour of Cuxhaven. This location is close to the Kugelbake monument. Using the 21mm Zeiss on the D800 and Polarizer with ND 3.0 filter resulting in 137 second exposure at f/11.
Lighthouse Balje
Short trip to Balje. The main front of the lighthouse points – of course – towards the river Elbe and therefore no real nice location to take pictures – unless you get there by boat.
Cuxhaven – Steubenhöft
Quickly decided to take some shots of the back of the building using the PC-E. Unfortunately I forgot that the D2x is not suited for the lens (you cannot shoot anything else but open aperture, so f3.5). Anyways, tried my best using the manual focus with the viewfinder and, before it started raining again, her’s a […]
Kugelbake
Another set of pictures from Cuxhaven’s landmark; this time using the Nikkor PC-E on my D7200. No sunrise, no sunset, just later the day. In the first image I tilted by about 4° down and shifted the lens up. Due to the tilt, the whole foreground was in focus – very nice. Exactly why I […]
Cuxhaven – Alte Liebe (using the Nikkor PC-E)
First test of the Nikkor 24mm f3.5 PC-E. As I had only my D7200 available I did only 2 images one without any tilt or shift and another one using the shift for a panorama shot (portrait mode – three images).
