On the third day we made a round trip to the north and the western part. Here it was not about the family tree but more about seeing other areas.

Unfortunately the weather didn’t play along at all, many pictures didn’t remain of it.

Pałac Sztynort I had imagined a little bit better. In the meantime there were works going on to restore the manor house. Scaffolding, machines and material were scattered all over the place. Even worse were the stupid signs in front of the main entrance. It almost never gets worse.

Kętrzyn in turn surprised us very positively. Very nice small town with some still very well preserved/restored buildings.

Via the small villages, which really all have their own charm, we went in the end in the direction of Sorkwity and before with a side trip to the Manor House Bansen in Bęsia.

In Sorkwity itself the weather caught up with us, it got darker and darker and it wasn’t much fun anymore.

Day-Trip

On the third day we drove about 280 kilometers. Destinations were Sztynort, Kętrzyn, Sorkwity and other places I had previously looked out over Google Earth.
