Want to have a sunrise picture of Arngast in the Jade Bight. Hopefully the lighthouse will also be illuminated. Targeting for Dec-17th at the moment, if weather permits.

Alternatively Dec-27th to 29th might work. The tide is better suited for the later dates.

Lighthouse Arngast

In Google Earth, I found 2 possible locations which also show proper sunrise behind the lighthouse for the targeted date. However the distance calculations from TPE are different than the one from Google Earth.

The below location shows 4050 meter distance from the location towards the lighthouse. In Google Earth it shows only 3000 meter for the same.

The second location I have only used in Google Earth but gets closer, down to 2690 meters distance to the lighthouse.

Assuming the 4000 meters are correct, it should come out a bit larger than on the linked sample photo, which was taken from the opposite site at 600mm on fullframe camera while distance was 5000 meters.

Photo Transit shows the minimum needed on focal length to have the lighthouse shown as in the sample. As the picture should incorporate sky(-fire) and sea, 400mm focal length should work fine.

The lighthouse is 36m high and in 4000 meters distance. Using a fullframe camera, the object to photograph needs to be 360 meters high for a full fit on the sensor.
