I did a lot of research and planning upfront. The main locations have been investigated and planned using TPE, Photo Transit, Google Maps/Earth before we went there. Finally, what has actually been used and taken from that. Here’s an overview.

Cappella della Madonna di Vitaleta

Planning for a shot of the capella as per TPE was as below.

The actual shot resulting from that has been done and is as this.

The second location was planned to be used to get a shot of the lonesome tree in the field. For this I planned to be close to the cappella as shown here.

Finally it turned out that it was much better to move further down the way in the opposite direction and take the picture from there.

Another planned shot was to be done from the street and having the chapel at a longer distance.

Podere Belvedere

Belvedere was shot from diverse locations. The previewed one from San Quirico was used in morning and evening hours.

Further on, the location where normally all the photographers are, was used morning as well as evening.

For Podere Belvedere there are also a bunch of other locations on both sides which do work fine.

Agriturismo Terrapille

The originally chosen location for the main shot to be done in morning and evening didn’t work out. Also the planned afternoon/evening location was not as far towards the building as originally planned for.

Around 100 meter before the given point was the location we have chosen. But we only did this in the morning.

Agriturismo Baccoleno

Baccoleno was only done in the evening. The one location matching with my plans was used in the first session.

The second location wasn’t planned at all but does show the gravel road to the farmhouse very nicely. It is about 200 meters above of the first planned location. This was used in the second session.

Cipressi di San Quirico d’Orcia

The location didn’t work well for me. This might be caused by the fields in front which did not have the colours matching good with the cypress area. I think this will work much better in summer when the grain is more golden coloured.

Poggio Covili

An easy one we also did in 2016. I moved slightly to the left side to grab the house as well.
