Birds in the backyard 2016
Haven’t done bird shooting in my backyard for quite some time. Today I took the chance to do some shots at the feeder place.
Long-lens only packing
Since some time I am looking for a backpack that allows me to transport my long lenses with attached camera. Not really designed for flying but to have at least 2 long lenses with camera with me in a single bag. Suggestions from discussion forum members were on several backpacks allowing to do so but […]
Nikkor 500mm f/4.0 IF ED AF-S
Recently bought the old Nikkor 500 AF-S first version. The shots I did so far using that lens are of amazing quality compared to the Tamron or Sigma zooms. However, the Sigma 150-600 S performs still at a high level but no chance compared to the prime lens. Using the lens without converter delivers outstanding results […]
Cuxhaven – Other local seafowl
Second try with the Nikkor 500f4, this time using the D7200. Was lucky to get some close Oystercatchers as they are normally quite shy. The lens does not perform as great as with the D4, but that’s not a surprise. Some quality trade-off is because of the smaller pixel-pitch of the D7200 but some is […]
Cuxhaven – Sandpipers
Desperately waiting to get a chance to try out the recently bought AF-S 500f4 lens. The weather today morning was nice and 2 hours left before high tide, so I went to Kugelbake and looking for some Sandpipers there. Fortunately not too many people were around and I was lucky to get some good shots. […]
Cuxhaven – Sandpipers
The owls are gone so having at least lot of seafowl left here. Was shortly looking at Kugelbake area and found 2 sandpiper species.
Short-eared Owls – Thirteenth round
Another short late afternoon stay – before it started to rain. Mainly focussing on bird-in-flight pictures.
Short-eared Owls – Still there!
I was thinking that they might have moved as none was be seen yesterday all day and I didn’t find one today in the morning. However, later afternoon there were still 2 at the meadow.
Short-eared Owls – Twelfth round
Some evening activity at the meadow. Not really comparable to what was going on in the last weeks. But some nice sunset shots were possible.
