Today is all around the Hali area. As it was cloudy yesterday evening at Jökulsárlón and also very busy, we decide to get up very early and be there before the crowds get to the place. We arrive at Jökulsárlón at 6 am and no one is there (except 2 seals but they are mainly under the water and hard to get).

Very nice morning sun is up and the icebergs are glowing in the morning sun.

Quick visit at the Fjallsárlón but that place does not benefit much from the early sun.

On the way back to the hotel we pass again the Jökulsárlón and the flow into the Atlantic ocean. Lots of icebergs and remains are on the black beach. Another time to stop and shift breakfast further out.

After breakfast we drive to Svartifoss (the black fall). An exhausting hike up the hills for 2 kilometers in unexpected warm (hot?) weather. Unusual for us as it was always rather chilly the last days. Unfortunately the clothes are not right for that. But the waterfall itself was worth doing it.

The last trip for today is yesterday’s missed drive up to the Skálafellsjökull via road F-985. Going up to 815 meters with my acrophobia isn’t a pleasure to drive up there. The road is very steep but in good shape. However, not my thing…

The shot above was stitched from 10 single pictures taken to grab the whole scenery.

Finally we made it 🙂
