One interim stop on the way to the south today. We will spend one night in Djúpivogur.

We leave early towards the Dettifoss. As it is on our way, we do a last quick stop at Námafjall. Today is no wind and the steam goes nearly straight up.

Nice little things are just besides where you stand to view the bigger stuff.

There are two ways getting to Dettifoss. One is via a recently built road on the western side, the other opposite from the eastern side. First we go for the western side.

Nice from the western side but the better view is truly from the opposite side.

From Dettifoss we follow the advice from the travel agency and take some part via the old ring road (road 901) through Möðrudalur.

Some kilometers after leaving Möðrudalur there’s an incredible view back, up north.

A longer part of the ring road 1 is not what a German would expect of a main road.
