Today we will go from Moab to Durango. For the 320 miles we will probably need about 8.5 hours.

First stop is Cisco Ghosttown. Here we were 30 years ago looking for gasoline for the motorhome. At that time it was not yet a ghost town and there was a gas station, but it was out of gas.

The gas station is still there and also the gas pump, but the sign “No Gas” is gone 🙂

The nest is not completely abandoned though, I still saw two satellite dishes.

Next stop is the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Originally the route should go to the South Rim. But since I didn’t check the planner anymore, the route led to the North Rim. Unfortunately this is also a detour of about 2 hours. Well, bad luck.

And there it was again, the problem fear of heights… This goes immediately and without a small lead directly about 500m down. Strong nerves are needed and I don’t have them. That with the complaint-joyful settlers there still nothing big happened, remains mysterious to me.

Nevertheless, the canyon is really great. There are of course also heaps of trails (but unfortunately no time).

Last stop, if you can call it that, is the Million Dollar Highway from Montrose via Ouray and Silverton to Durango.

Old silver mine buildings can be found there in abundance.

Due to the wrong decision at Black Canyon it became quite late today, of course. Actually we wanted to drive through Silverton in the afternoon at 16 o’clock, so it became 6 o’clock and almost dark.
