Last night, the good man at the front desk asked if I wanted to be woken up. I said I wanted to use the cell phone as an alarm clock, but after some back and forth, I agreed. What luck. During the night, the phone changed from daylight saving time to winter time. When the front desk called, the phone was still an hour ahead. That would have cost the flight (so much luck on Sunday morning, I’m really worried – loosely based on Stoppok).

At 4:30 o’clock the bus should come. Suitcases already put down in front, I ask at the reception for the promised coffee. No one there, it will take at least five minutes. No problem, the car is not there yet. Just when the coffee is supposed to come, the car rolls up. OK, no coffee, maybe at the airport in Hurghada…

Driver and co-driver open the door, the co-driver lights a cigarette and points to the rear window, which the driver is opening. Here I should lift my suitcases. The young man makes no effort to help me. In view of the large suitcases, the driver thinks that the door is probably more suitable. Again the passenger hesitates and then decides to lift one suitcase in. I heave the other one in myself.

At Hurghada airport, no one is waiting. I unload one suitcase, the other one is unloaded by the driver. Why the passenger was there is a mystery to me. He could have slept late. I am not ready for a tip. So off we go with an airport employee for screening. From then on, you have to rely on yourself. Has sometimes also his good, if one flies often, then one knows himself at least a little. Ticket counter found, tickets redeemed (unfortunately without onward flight from Cairo to Berlin, that must be still procured in Cairo). At least the suitcases are checked in until Berlin.

After a Segafredo coffee in the airport then departure direction Cairo. After one hour the flight is over. I had not expected this; in the arrival hall an employee of New-Vision is waiting on behalf of Stern-Tours. Ahmed brings everything safely and quickly over the stage. He gets the tickets during the screening. After that, he fills out everything and stands in line at the immigration counter. Up to here Ahmed is allowed to be present. He says goodbye and gratefully I give him a tip. In contrast to Hurghada this was a good service here in Cairo.

After two hours departure. Before still in the Food Lounge a delicious American Coffee and a few cigarettes (have now enough duty-free material).

Cairo

The return flight goes directly over Alexandria. Too bad, sitting on the left side and can only see the western part against the sun.

Alexandria

We continue over the Aegean Sea. Karpathos appears on the GPS monitor in the plane. Did not know that I already own an island. So, André, nix Crete, what own must here…

4 hours later arrival in Berlin Schönefeld. Overcast and a bit colder here. But no air conditioning – I could finally get rid of my cold (I have since the second day – continuously). At the new main station still 3 hours stay. One books halt with tidy buffer with the stock exchange candidate. There falls already times the one or other train out. Like the ICE on the neighboring track – also in the direction of Hamburg – because of engine damage. The EC to Hamburg is overcrowded as a result. Fortunately, I have a reserved seat. From Hamburg to Cuxhaven is home again. One knows that…

So, this ends my Egypt BLOG, I hope it was not too boring…
