From 7th to 13th November we did a trip to Spain’s Extremadura. Mainly it was about bird photography. Partly from hides, but also on excursions. In retrospect one can say that the season is not suitable for it. Rather the spring or the early autumn should be considered here. Nevertheless, some species were to be seen and photographed.

We were accommodated near Berzocana, in the Finca de la Sierra. From here we went on the first day with the 4×4 car to the south down to the province Badajoz:

Actually, we were looking for Great Bustards. However, these showed up only twice briefly in flight. More than one documentary picture did not come off thereby.

Still, I’m not dissatisfied. First you have seen the area and can think about a possible return at a better time of the year.

In the evening I tried to photograph the Milky Way, but the moon was already more than 3/4 full and it was too bright for that. So a little (with exaggerated processing) you can just let it go through. Otherwise the area is predestined for astrophotography. Börtle 3 is – as far as I know – nowhere available in Germany.
