The third object I shot during the night of Jan-2nd to Jan-3rd. Also, my first attempt to shoot unattended. After setting the parameters and the started the sequence, I went to sleep. However, during the night, some clouds came in and did hide the galaxy, so I had to sort these pictures out. My attempt was to do 180 lights with 90 seconds each, but only 137 were useable.

M101 – Pinwheel Galaxy

The picture also shows the limitations of shooting unguided. It is not as sharp as pictures done with 60 seconds.

So, next target is to add guiding to the scope and also try out using a regular Nikon teleconverter which will allow for smaller objects with higher resolution. Whether the quality is good enough then, I will see.
