After several prints I received the message that one of the cartridges has low ink available. As expected this is for the Chroma-Optimizer, which is also stated in the Canon technical specifications the one getting empty rather quick (together with the grey inks).

Below is the screenshot of the Canon utility showing the ink status. Not to forget that still a lot of ink is available in the print-head conductor.

Unfortunately I did not grab a screenshot of the cartridge fills when I setup the printer. If I recall it correctly, it was about half of the bar size for all inks.  So, at some point in the next month I will have to buy Chroma Optimizer, Photo Gray, Gray and Yellow. But I will see how far these will take me.

Good opportunity to have a closer look at the job logs and do some calculations there.

So far I printed 63 images. 7 of them were A3 and A3+ size, 56 A4 size. Only one was thrown away because I did it wrong when aligning the image in the output frame in Lightroom.

The below figures are derived from the accounting software, so as Canon states, noz 100% accurate but shows pretty much reasonable results.

The total ink spent is 57ml with 11,58ml on A3(+) and 45,42ml on A4. In average ink consumption was 1,66ml for A3(+) and 0,81ml for A4.

The cost (everybody is asking about the cost for printing):

Size Total € Paper € Ink € Ink (ml)
A3(+)  21,40 €  14,85 €  6,55 € 11,58
A4  75,33 €  49,47 €  25,86 € 45,42
Total  96,73 €  64,32 €  32,42 € 57,00

And here the averages on the given results:

Size Avg € Paper € Ink € Ink (ml)
A3(+)  3,06 €  2,12 €  0,94 € 1,654
A4  1,26 €  0,82 €  0,43 € 0,811

For these prints I would probably have paid around 500€ with a cheap supplier. The above  has been done mostly on expensive Fine Art paper which would either not be available at such print stores or also quite expensive.

The most expensive print I have done so far was on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Ultra Smooth 305 paper in A3 which was in total around 4,06€. Most expensive A4 was a black and white print on Hahnemühle Fine Art Baryta 325 paper which was in total at 2,29€.
